HAPPINESS

One of the most constant pursuits in this world is the pursuit of happiness. Many seem to be able to chase after happiness, but not all seem to be happy. The causes of unhappiness are many, but true happiness can only be found through One person.
The Maha Satguru, in one of his most well-known teachings, spoke on how true happiness comes to those who seek it. When mentioning those who were blessed, he was also referring to those who are happy – as happiness is often a by-product of being blessed. The “happy in spirit”, he began to refer to those who were not readily recognized in society as being happy. These were the poor (humble) in spirit, the mourners, the meek, the sinners, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, and the persecuted. This was quite a controversial message, even for its time, as when we often think of those who are happy, we don’t readily think of these things.
Most people associate happiness with success, which isn’t always true. A look into the daily news shows that at the height of many people’s success, the most misery ensues, especially, it seems, for those in business and entertainment world.
So what is the secret to being truly happy? It is when we realize that our happiness does not come from ourselves or what we achieve, but rather, from Someone greater, just as the Maha Satguru says. Often, the need to seek personal happiness in chasing after the temporary pleasures of life is always short-lived. The fact that God grants happiness to those who are unhappy and those who struggle is a great comfort.
The happiness that comes from God is one that cannot be taken away. It brings peace to the soul and blessings to life. It doesn’t mean there won’t be problems, but it does mean that you will be rewarded for trusting in God for His blessing of happiness in the middle of your circumstances. Despite the struggles and pressures of life, you can find true happiness in God, who provides for you.
